South Georgia Trashing

This morning along with 6 other photographers, I photographed three amazing women for a trash the dress session. The plan was originally for ME to trash my dress, but two years after getting married, it didn't fit like I had hoped. Three friends of mine, Courtney-Ashley-Katrina, were brave sports and volunteered to get trashed!!
We all headed down to "The River", complete with rope swing, and did a little trashin'. I can't express how much fun I had... and everyone else said they had a blast too!
Because I have over 400 images to proof, I've chosen a select six to share.

It's amazing how kids act...

... when their parents aren't around!
Miss K and I met up this morning downtown. While her step-mom was shopping, we took pictures! I have to say that this is the best photo shoot I've done with K so far (her family and I often get together for shoots)! It was amazing how wonderful she was without someone else to distract her. She was a natural in front of the camera, and followed my lead when requested. So, it's no wonder her images came out fantastic!
Here are some from her session:

Holiday Mini-Sessions

It's quickly approaching the time of year when people really start thinking about the holidays. And what's more important than getting the pefect picture for your holiday cards... or better yet, purchasing some for loved ones?!
The Bond Between Us is offering a special on Holiday portraits. You'll receive a 30 minute mini-session and 50 4x8 sized Christmas cards for $75. Additional prints from your session may be purhased at our regular prices.
Sessions are limited to families of 4 and under (larger families are welcomed to schedule a session but will be charged $20 more and will receive longer shooting time) and sessions must be completed by November 18 in order to allow time for delivery.
Clients will be presented with proofing images and five variations of holiday cards to choose from within 5 days of session. Fee is due at the time of session.

Here's a sample of some cards:

So, to recap, $75 gets you:
  • 30 minutes of shooting time
  • 50 holiday cards
  • an online gallery to choose images from
  • no going to the mall and sitting with Santa
  • no cramming in a busy portrait studio in front of a Christmas tree backdrop
  • real images, real smiles, a real spirit of the season!

A Special Session

I posted a teaser for Erin and her mom last night after Erin's maternity session yesterday, and I couldn't wait to be able to post more.
Erin's maternity session was very emotional to me. For those who read this blog from afar and don't know the circumstances, here's a little background. Erin's boyfriend passed away three weeks ago following a fatal motorcycle accident. Just two months shy of the birth of their child, Erin was faced with knowing that she would have to raise her son, Trip, without his father. Mike, her boyfriend, was in the military and knew that his job might lead him into dangerous territory. Who would have thought that a ride out with friends would have ended so tragically?
Erin and I had discussed her maternity portraits before this, and to be honest, I was unsure of how to bring up the topic. On one hand, I would completely understand if she didn't want to follow through, and on the other, I thought it might be a wonderful opportunity for her to get excited about the baby's arrival.
Thankfully, she chose the latter. I remember talking to her about what she might want to wear, and giving her links to inspirational websites. She said that she was looking at them with her mom and saying that all of the pictures had a woman and man together... and that hers would be so different. I'm happy to report that Mike WAS in a few pictures (as you'll see farther down). I have to say thanks to my own mom who suggested the pose.

Here are some favorites of the 50+ proofs I'm showing Erin:

Erin and her belly!

Erin, a wonderful friend (and past co-worker of mine) is pregnant... and beautiful! During her maternity session this morning I realized that she didn't have a single stretch mark. Not that I've had children, but I still didn't think it was fair. Lucky gal!
Here's one of the first pictures I proofed from her session, and until I have more time to post, I'll leave you with this:

Beach Wildlife

Instead of posting a bunch of pictures, I decided to make a collage of the flora and fauna that we saw during vacation. Seriously, I could live there... it was so relaxing!

Why I Love the Beach

The pictures speak for themselves, so that's exactly what I'm going to let them do...

Back from Vacation!

Brett and I just got back from our wonderfully relaxing vacation to the beach! We spent great fun with my in-laws (how many people can say that?!). Boat rides galore, yummy food, and breath-taking sunsets. Pictures are DEFINTELY coming, but because we just got home... nothing yet!
I noticed that quite a few people voted on my poll to the right in the past week -- thanks for the wonderful comments while we were gone... keep them coming!

Kellis - We're home!!
Renee - I'm so happy that you like Dalton's smiling picture.
Patty - Malia is absoutely adorable. I'm glad you like her pictures!

Vacation

I'm headed to Florida for a week, and won't have e-mail or internet access... while I'm pretty attached to the computer, it will be a nice change.
Feel free to keep the e-mails coming for portrait sessions or wedding inquiries. Just know that you won't get a reply until next Sunday evening. Have a great week!

*BTW, any creepy people around, yes, there will be someone at my house... you're not getting off that lucky!

Another Dalton Favorite

I can't help but post another image of Dalton. What a wonderfully special moment between mother and son.

Malia - Almost 14 months

Perhaps my favorite (okay, one of my favorite) parts of this photography gig is being able to watch kids grow... grow into amazing people. I had the great privilege of photographing Malia when she was a newborn. Actually, her mom delivered her the week before we were scheduled to take maternity portraits!
On Monday,
I got together with Miss Malia and her mom. While she didn't smile much (I think she was on to me and my camera) we managed to have some fun.

Dalton

Dalton's parents won the auction that I donated for the Haven's Annual Fundraiser at the beginning of August. Here are some of the keepers from the session today:
